May is undoubtedly one of the best months to visit Tuscany and Chianti. The climate is favourable, with long days and pleasant temperatures, and the calendar of events is really interesting.
From Kandinsky to Pollock, the great art of the Guggenheims in Florence
From last 19 March to 24 July, Palazzo Strozzi has been hosting more than 100 masterpieces of European and American art of the twentieth century coming from the Peggy and Solomon Guggenheim collections. Modern art masters such as Duchamp, Ernst, Ray, and Picasso, the informal Europeans such as Burri, Vedova, Dubuffet, and Fontana, up to the American art of Pollok, Rothko, Calder, and Lichtenstein.
An itinerary that goes from the 1920s to the 1960s and narrates the birth of the neo avant-gardes rebuilding the relations between the two shores of the ocean, but that also celebrates the special bond among collectors and Palazzo Strozzi.
Here, in 1949, Peggy Guggenheim decided to exhibit her collection before it had been definitively exhibited in Venice.
